DIVISION NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 17th, 2006

NEXT MEETING AT THE IRISH CENTER AT 7:30 PM November 27th, 2006

October Meeting: Several subjects were covered during our last meeting. We discussed the nomination of officers, initiation of new members, our annual Christmas party, the Hibernian of the year, and the creation of a new appointed position, the program chairman.       November Meeting: The upcoming meeting will see the election of officers for the year 2007,planning for the Christmas party, continuing arrangements for the initiation of new members, and planning for the installation of officers for next year.

Christmas Party: The annual AOH/LAOH Christmas Party will soon be upon us. A flier for the Christmas party was sent out in a separate mailing .You are most encouraged to attend because over the years this has proven to be one of our most popular events and a grand time has always been had by all. Please note a change in past practice, we will no longer sell tickets at the door. Your early ticket purchase will be appreciated.

Election of Officers: The upcoming meeting will see the election of new officers for the year 2007.If you wish to be nominated or nominate someone else for office this can be done at the November meeting. The slate of officers nominated at the October meeting was William Powers for President, Paul Lyons for Vice President James P. O=Brien for Recording Secretary, James McGeever for Financial Secretary, Michael Liszewski for Treasurer, Christopher Weitz for Chairman of the Standing Committee, Norm Hamilton for Marshall and Timothy Green for Sentinel. If there are no new nominations, election of the slate of officers will be by the single vote of the Recording Secretary

October Speaker: Charlie Treanor was the speaker and he told us of his latest trip to Ireland. He has been there many times before so his observations were fascinating to hear. Change is finally coming to Ireland and it is not always for the better. If you want to see the “Old Ireland” it would be best to do it soon before progress sweeps it away.

November Speaker: Bill Powers will give a two part talk entitled ANational AOH structure and interesting Irishmen@ For those of you who don=t know Bill well I would say he is our organizations subject matter expert on both those topics. He has attended numerous National and State Conventions over the years and is very familiar with how things work on that level. He also is friends with AOH members as far away as far away as Montana and everywhere in-between.

Hibernian of the Year: Please congratulate Paul Lyons for his selection to be Hibernian of the Year. This award is given at our Christmas party to a member who best personifies our values of AFriendship, Unity and Christian Charity@.  Anywhere there was a job to be done or event to be assisted you could find Paul answering the call.

E-Mail: Please send your E- Mail address to Bill Powers at wpowers38@yahoo.com.

This will help us reach you more efficiently.
